Bar stools: a must have for modern public places
Bar stools are born as proper furnishings for this type of public place. There is probably no bar in the world that does not have a stool where its customers seat. The modern bar stool is used both as a temporary seat for customers at the counter and as a fixed seat, but always for quick meals. Rarely does the furniture of a bar consist solely and exclusively of stools, very often bar stools are combined with tables and chairs so that the vertical space can also be exploited. Bar stools are also very popular in bistros, cafes and similar places because they are able to furnish with their slender shape and the variety of materials that can be used.
Types of bar stools
As with chairs, sofas and any other type of seat, bar stools can also be of different heights, with four legs, with a single central support, with or without backrest and many other features that may or may not exist.
Four-legged bar stools: they can be compared to chairs with higher legs. They can be made of a single material such as wood or highly resistant plastics such as polyethylene or polycarbonate.
One-piece bar stools: with a strongly modern design, these designer bar stools are very comfortable and practical to handle. They are made of polyethylene or, if they are soft to the touch, polyurethane.
Bar stools with central support: this is a model widely used in public places because it is considered in many ways more comfortable than the four-legged one. The materials generally used for these modern bar stools are chromed steel for the structure and shell in leather, eco-leather, but also plastic materials.
Bar stools with backrest: modern bar stools are usually without backrest or at most with a hint of backrest, but it is possible to choose models equipped with this back support in such a way as to increase the feeling of comfort for your customers. We can say that the counter stools usually have no backrest while the table ones can be equipped with it.
Bar stools materials
By virtue of the characteristics of the place, there are bar stools in many materials: it is up to the owner of the place to determine which material is most suitable for style and needs. Obviously, if the place has an exclusively indoor space, then we can consider all types of materials: steel bar stools, modern bar stools in plastic or wood, elegant and solid. In the event that the venue also has an outdoor space available to customers, then the possibilities of choice will be reduced because it will also be necessary to consider the weather factor, sometimes unpredictable.
- Wood: material par excellence in terms of furniture, wood used for the bar stools must be heat-resistant, resistant to shocks and abrasions. Usually, it is used both to make models entirely in wood or stools with wooden legs and shell in another material. Not recommended for outdoor spaces, wood gives character and a touch of inimitable warmth.
For modern wooden bar stools, we recommend: SCAB
- Aluminum: this metal is known for its ability to last over time and lightness, qualities that make it especially suitable for premises with a strong bustle of customers or that have an outdoor space for customers.
For modern aluminum bar stools, we recommend: COLOS - NARDI - SCAB
- Steel: unlike aluminum, steel is not a metal but an alloy consisting of iron and coal, the latter in small quantities. Steel is not used to produce bar stools in their entirety but it is usually used to make the structure of these or the base.
For modern steel bar stools, we recommend: COLOS - PEDRALI - SCAB
- Plastic: plastic is the symbolic material of the 20th century and for this reason it is used for the production of many objects, including chairs and bar stools. Plastic stools, while not having the charm of wooden or metal ones, have unique characteristics such as resistance, simple deep cleaning and lightness. Also suitable for indoor locations, plastic materials such as polyethylene and polypropylene are particularly suitable for outdoor areas.
For plastic bar stools, we recommend: NARDI - PEDRALI - COLOS - DRIADE - PLUST - SCAB - SLIDE
