Many ways to clean fabric armchairs, tips by Arredare Moderno
Fabric armchairs are a functional and trendy piece of furniture. Some types are removable, others are not, but even in the latter case, the fabric can be cleaned and sanitised very easily.
Cleaning fabric armchairs with dry foam or soap
Before cleaning a fabric armchair, it is essential to carefully vacuum dust, crumbs and hair that may be present on the armchair. The quickest way to clean a fabric armchair is to use dry foam. It should be sprinkled on the armchair and then rubbed in. Another natural remedy is vinegar and laundry soap. In this case, the fabric must be sprinkled with a mixture of water, vinegar and soap. Once the soap has been carefully rubbed directly onto the stain, it should be wiped off with a damp cloth.
The chair should never be excessively wet: this is to prevent water from penetrating through the fabric to the upholstery. If, by mistake, there should be too much water, it is better to dry with a hair dryer.
Cleaning fabric armchairs with bicarbonate of soda
Baking soda is particularly used in household cleaning. In the case of stains on the fabric of armchairs and sofas, it is very effective. To clean fabric armchairs, simply dilute a tablespoon of baking soda in a litre of lukewarm water and add half a glass of lemon juice or vinegar. Then soak a soft cloth in this solution, wring it out well so that it remains barely damp, and then wipe the entire surface of the fabric armchair.
Cleaning fabric armchairs with steam
Steam is an excellent natural way to clean and sanitise non-removable fabric armchairs. Steam removes bacteria, mould, mites and eliminates stains on fabrics. Before passing the steam jet over the armchair, it is a good idea to remove hair and dust. Then you can proceed with the steam, taking care that it does not penetrate the seat upholstery.
